Partitioning is one of the effective way to organize the computer’s hard drive memory, processor and resources into different sets of partition which can be independently operated with its own operating system and applications. Partitioning and re-partitioning is considerably easier to perform on Mac as compared to Windows. You can create a partition on Mac with Disk Utility. Double click on the “Disk Utility”. Select the drive that you want to re-partition, from the column shown on the left hand side and click on “Partitions” tab. A box will be opened where you can select the size of the new partition and can proceed. The only problem that most of the users find while re-partitioning is that the data present in the drive from which the new partition is made becomes inaccessible. In this scenario, you will end up with important data. If you encounter a situation like this, no need to panic because you can recover lost Mac partition using third party utility software such as Remo Recover (Mac) Pro Edition.
There are many other scenarios apart from re-partitioning, in which you can lose partitions on Mac. Few common ones are discussed below.
- Boot Camp is the utility that allows you to create a partition on Mac volume and install Windows operating system. If the Boot Camp process fails then you may lose the partition and the error message that commonly pops up is: “Your start-up disk cannot be partitioned because verification failed”.
- Sometimes corrupt or missing data structures like file system, boot loader, MBR etc may also lead to loss or inaccessibility of partitions on Mac.
- Malwares programs or viruses may enter into your system through internet, external removable devices, emails etc which can corrupt the file system of the partition making it inaccessible.
- Accidental deletion of critical operating system or boot files by user, improper shut down, power sludge, operating system malfunctions etc can lead to loss of partition.
- Accidental deletion of wrong partition or while installing the new Mac operating system you may lose the existing partition.
If you come across any such scenarios, in which you have lost the partition then try to restore the data from the Backup. In any critical situation, if you do not have a backup then stop performing any new operation on the Mac hard drive and use partition recovery tool such as Remo Recover (Mac) Pro Edition.
Remo Recover (Mac) Pro Edition is one of the strongest and safest utility to recover lost or missing partition from Mac operating system. It scans the entire Mac hard dive for missing partition and other file system components. In addition, this software helps you to recover data from formatted or reformatted, inaccessible or corrupted volumes on Mac. It supports HFS+, HFSX, FAT16 and FAT32 volumes. You can download the demo version of this software which is available free. You can preview the data recovered in demo version itself. Later you can purchase the original licensed version to save the recovered partition on Mac.
